I can't begin to thank you all for the messages you left on the entry about my Dad, or that you've sent to me through Twitter or email. You might think words are inconsequential, but they have made a huge impact on both me and my family. It hits me a little more, day by day, that I won't get to see him or speak with him, no matter how much I want to. I won't be able to get his advice about something, or email him some random link about The Hobbit or Star Wars. Two things have been helping me through this: talking about Dad to people who knew him*, and having friends like you all. (* I really thought that this would be impossibly difficult, but it actually brings a lot of comfort to hear dad speaking through others. He had such a distinct personality and sense of humor--whenever someone quotes him, I can actually hear his voice saying it. I ALSO heard the full story of how my parents met and how Debra Winger was a little SWIMFAN about my dad back when they worked at Magic Mountain in the 70s. Both stories for another time!)
Because I can't think of another way to express my gratitude, I want to give away the only spare copy of The Darkest Minds I have right now.
Bonus: you will be one of the first people to read it, since I'm pretty sure BEA is the first time ARCs will be distributed--so you'd be getting it a full month early.
Double Bonus: It is a super foxy ARC.
See? Check out that shine! (Side note: that's not a trident, it's a Psi symbol. You will be one of the first to understand the significance!)
Triple bonus: Once you finish reading it, I will tell you and you alone one secret from the sequel, which I'm working on right now. I get to choose what it is, but you get to choose whether or not you want to lord the knowledge over your friends. OR, if you're not into spoilers, I'll give you some behind-the-scenes/backstory details about this story and the characters.
You guys requested that I host the contest here on the blog rather than on GoodReads, so I'm going to keep this very simple: you get entries one of two ways, by leaving me a comment here on AB.com or Livejournal recommending a book for me to read this summer, and by tweeting about it. That's it. Take it away, Rafflecopter!
