Tip-toeing back in because I absolutely have to share this gorgeous slice of heaven (at 1:45 AM on Sunday morning):
I'm a huuuuuuuuge fan of Peter Gabriel thanks to my mom, and one of my absolute favorite PG songs is Come Talk to Me. I genuinely consider it North and Syd's song; I listened to it thousands of time while I was writing and revising. I don't think I'll ever be sick of it. It plays my heartstrings like a fiddle.
So you can imagine how FLIPPING EXCITED I AM to discover the above Bon Iver cover. I knew PG was doing a cover album (called Scratch My Back) and he asked the artists he covered to cover one of his songs. (PG covered Bon Iver's Flume, if you were wondering.) Scratch My Back also has my favorite love song of all time, The Book of Love, which just gives you another reason to check the project out.
Anyway, I'm sure I've posted this before, but here is the original PG version of Come Talk to Me for comparison. It's pretty damn amazing any way you mix it or record it.
EDITED TO ADD:
PG and Justin Vernon talk about the project here. Fascinating stuff, especially if you love hearing how musicians interpret and experience their work.
