Hello, Gorgeous

tumblr_kpx73nNa9W1qzyuwro1_500_largeI don't have much to say, only that it's finally fall! Even though I absolute hate the cold, I have massive love for this season--most likely because I was completely deprived of it while I was growing up. In the part of Arizona I grew up in, we had no visible season change. You could be driving in your car and have no idea what season it was just by looking out your window. So I find the explosion of red, orange, and gold to be brilliant and fascinating. Autumn in Williamsburg was, and still is, particularly lovely--how can you resist those colonial streets when they're sprinkled with crisp leaves? Gloooorious~

I'm excited about this season for a lot of reasons. When I first started searching for a job a few months ago, several people told me that September was THE month to find a job. Not because positions magically opened, but because it's the month that everyone tries for a change. After years and years and years of the experience of "Back to School," it has to be deeply rooted in our psyche to feel compelled to reinvent ourselves in some way. I swear, it was like a switch flipped in my brain this morning. I woke up thinking, "I want to highlight my hair." Okay, so not life-changing, but I swear I have other stuff that is!

New job, new apartment, finally settling in the city, and new agent. That's right! This morning, I met her for breakfast and then got a tour of Writers House's New York office. Which, by the way, is gorgeous and very cool! In a classic Alex moment, I did miss the last two steps going down the stairs and nearly crashed into aforementioned new agent, but I took her willingness to catch me as a good sign. ;)

I'm still so very sad that my first agent, Lindsay, has decided to leave the business. She, almost more than anyone else, did so much to change my life and has been there every step of the way, regardless of bumps and jars. And not only that, but she's a genuinely wonderful human being and a friend! She's off to be married and live in the UK, and I'm very excited that she's going on this adventure and to be working with my fabulous new agent, Merrilee. :)

I hope you all have some wonderful change coming your way. In the meantime, here's one of my favorite "Fall" songs. The minute the temperature dips to 60 degrees, it's on my most current playlist.
